Ohio Building Authority - About the Authority

 MISSION STATEMENT

The Ohio Building Authority was established by the State Legislature in 1963 as an independent authority. It is governed by a five-member board, each serving a six year term. Board members are appointed by the Governor with the advice and consent of the Ohio Senate.

The mission of the Authority is to finance, construct, maintain and manage certain State facilities for the use of State agencies. It accomplishes this mission in four primary ways:

  • By building and managing State office facilities.

  • By financing the acquisition and/or renovation of existing facilities that are used by State agencies.

  • By financing the construction of progressive adult and juvenile correctional facilities.

  • By financing the construction of arts and sports facilities

Pursuant to the Ohio Revised Code and Section 2i of Article VIII of the Ohio Constitution, the Authority is empowered to issue revenue obligations to finance its projects. It is the goal of the Authority to structure each of its debt issuances in a prudent and fiscally sound manner.
